Best Forearm Building Exercise

Developing strong forearm muscles is a very important aspect of bodybuilding. You need strong forearms so that they can aid your other muscles when you are lifting heavy weights. Having strong forearms is also important in various sports and daily activities, such as hitting a baseball or throwing a football. There are any number of other reasons that one would need to develop strong forearms, but it is an often under-developed body part that doesn't get the attention it deserves in the gym. The following is a great forearm-muscle builder that will definitely strengthen your arm.

Before we begin, I should caution you that forearm muscles are small, so you do not need to use a lot of weight to adequately work them out. In fact, using too much weight can damage your muscles, so start out with around 4 or 5 pounds. This exercise is very simple and will really build the tops of your forearms. Sit on a bench and take a small weight in your hand. Now place your arm on top of your knee. You want to take the weight in your hand and let it hang just over your knee. Now contract your forearm and lift the weight up. You should do about 3 sets of 10 repetitions. Practicing this exercise about 2 to 3 times a week will really strengthen and tone your forearms.
